Thanks Universe

by Olivia Barker

Every once in a while we get a little hint from the universe that things are the way they are supposed to be.

I've officially been a Texas resident for three months and this week the number three was following me. I was in line to get coffee in our student run coffee shop on campus and all of a sudden I was introducing myself to three new people and making plans for happy hour. I met up with a gal across campus for a three mile run and ended up making a new friend. My supervisor and the person I supervise were out sick a few days this week and last and I covered three presentations for them. A hint from the universe? I don't know the significance of the number three, but I can't help but think it's a hint from the universe and I LOVE hearing from the universe.

There is an incredible website and you can sign up to receive an encouraging note from the universe. While I know the same note is probably going out to millions of people around the world, I can't help but feel like I'm the only person receiving this note. It's kind of like my horoscope, every Aries has the same horoscope, but for some reason it always seems to be perfect for whatever I'm going through and seems like it is written just for me. This is what a note from the universe is like...every single one seems to speak to my soul and is just the encouragement I need...every single time.

Whether you started a new job, your masters program or just a new semester, slow down and take a minute this week to try and see what the universe is telling you. It's really easy for us to get lost in our work and just to through the motions. Take a minute to appreciate the people around you and what they are contributing to our field. To appreciate our students, the weather, your friends and family...whatever. Listen to the universe, it's might be speaking to
