Running Away

"I don't know about you, but I've thought about running away a lot more as an adult than I ever did as a child."

I ran away last weekend to spend a few days with my favorite person in the world. I've been really honest that this transition has been overwhelmingly difficult, so I planned a weekend getaway with my sis to hang in Chicago, see Garth Brooks in concert and just take a few days to be myself. I had one of the best weekends of my life and I really wasn't ready for it to end, but when I got back something unexpected happened...

I went to work on Monday...just like any other Monday and all of a sudden my day wasn't as hard, my attitude changed and I finally felt like I hit my stride. I had a couple of presentations and they went really well and I received a lot of compliments after both presentations. I felt like I was on the top of my game at every single meeting and had really great conversations about some positive changes for the future. Not only was my work week great, but my weekend was fun too! I took a street dance class on Friday night and made a total fool of myself, but learned some cool moves. Saturday, I went to a Rice tailgate and football game and then cheered on the Georgia Southern Eagles at a bar in town who was playing the game. And to really round out my week, I'm 3-0 in my fantasy league and kicking my whole family's butt...I mean, could this week get any better?

Running away was just what I needed to get myself on the right track. This week really boosted my confidence and was just what I needed to get my head on straight so I can stick around and show Rice who I am and what I can do!
