Make Your Own Path

“6+3 =9, but so does 2+7. The way you do things isn’t always the only way to do them. Respect other people's way of thinking.”

I saw this quote on my twitter feed the other day and I loved it. I love being creative and coming up with my own ways to achieve success. I can follow direction, but I really like to learn by doing and sometimes that means doing it my own way!

As the baby of my family, I had a lot of direction from my older brother and sister. They both made their own decisions and while I watched the rewards (and punishments) from their choices, I always wanted to see for myself, make my own mistakes and learn the hard way. My friend Socrates once said “To find yourself, think for yourself.” One of the most beautiful things about our field is that we have these opportunities. Of course there are always times when we don’t have as much flexibility, but for the most part, we get to grow and learn as we go.

Take advantage of this opportunity we are afforded in our field. Make mistakes, make your own path and you know what? 8+1 and 5+4 both equal 9 too!
