Exploring Student Affairs

Are you thinking about a career in Student Affairs? There are many things to consider in pursuing this service oriented career path from an area or office you might be interested in working for to the type of institution.

Colorado State University is offering a free course titled “Exploring the Student Affairs in Higher Education Profession,” and based on the description it will be extremely helpful if you are interested in Student Affairs. Course curriculum includes foundations of the profession, including history, theory, professional opportunities, guidance on graduate programs, and the future of the profession. There is even a section on transition, including leaving current employment or graduating.

Four years ago when I was considering changing careers this course would have been a huge help to inform me about all of the different opportunities and aspects of the profession.  In all honesty, I had no clue what to expect from course curriculum or transitioning from one career to another (or one state to another).

If you’re exploring a career in Student Affairs, I would strongly encourage you to check out this course: http://www.online.colostate.edu/free-online-courses/student-affairs-in-higher-education/. Registration is currently open and the course begins on January 21, 2014.
