Making a Friend in the Ball Pit

by Julia Broskey

Recently, I was perusing Pinterest and noticed a video about meeting a random stranger in a ball pit. It appeared too good to be true and a fun concept! How often do we strike up a conversation with individuals we sit next to on the subway, wait in line with at the coffee shop, or frequently run into at the grocery store?

We have those days where we love our students, the sun is shining and everything feels right with the world. In fact, it’s that time of the year where good-byes are being spoken, feelings of gratitude are being expressed and we’re remembering why we love working with students. But in the midst of this, the challenges are present. Situations happen, actions occur, and news is posted that makes us doubt our faith in humanity. Have you ever had a day where you just need a pick me up? Just watching this video gave me that little boost for my faith in humanity- and a program idea! So, let’s smile at a stranger, pay for the coffee of the person behind us, put an extra quarter in the meter, or simply believe in the good- because deep down, people are good! I hope this video makes you smile as much as I did. Happy Graduation season!
