In a few of my posts I have shared some of the work that I have been doing at the College of Saint Benedict. While this work mainly has to do with videos, I have found it important to share ideas with the rest of the Student Affairs world because it is important to be thinking about how your ideas can help and benefit others in our field.
Last week at the Association of College Unions, a colleague that worked on the Careers in Student Affairs committee with me, created a poster that displayed how we went about trying to create interest in Student Affairs among our students. We ended up winning the People’s Choice for Technology use. It may be silly, but I am really excited about this award.
In this first year, I had never thought that I would be given the freedom to create and try new things. I was always told that your first year is about learning and soaking up information about your institution, but it can be so much more than that. Without shaking the boat too much, you can find ways to bring your talents to the table within your first year/semester.
