Training for the Moment

California here I come right back where I started from...

I am a little excited writing from an airplane above the Rocky Mountains headed to California. On Sunday I will run (maybe run/walk) my first half marathon and my parents will be there to cheer me on.

I am not as prepared as I want to be. I didn't train as much as I was hoping to. I am nowhere near the fastest person there. Maybe I didn't drink enough water or eat the proper amount of carbohydrates...

Does this sound familiar? Maybe not with running, but perhaps with school or work? Do you look back and wonder how you could prepare for a situation differently? In this profession I find it easy to feel unprepared or question decisions I make. Though we can read from the best theorists and write a million reflections, sometimes there isn't always a correct answer or way of doing this work. You simply have to trust your ability and have the confidence to know you are doing your personal best. Know all the training and long days will pay off in the moment.

There are many finish lines to cross in life. May you celebrate the small victories you have this week whether it was a long walk or sprint to the finish.
