Six Months…

Over the weekend I had a mini reunion with two of my closest cohort friends. All three of us live in Colorado, but I’ve only seen both of them twice since graduation. We had a great time catching up, sharing stories about our new positions, and reminisced about some of our favorite classes and professors. On my way home I realized November marks six months since I graduated from the SAHE program.

Many aspects of my life have changed dramatically in the last six months, including starting a new job and moving to a new town. I find myself reflecting a lot lately, and wondering about what the next six months will bring. Now seems to be a good time to review and update my personal and professional goals.

Here are a few:

Professionally:
1.      Read more. In graduate school a great deal of literature was handed to me, which I often refer to as I create new initiatives. However, I will be more intentional about finding new articles to read to make sure I stay current on best practices. Secondly, I plan to set aside time each week for reading.

2.      Gain a better understanding of technology. The Twitter backchannel from the NASPA Tech Conference really inspired me to do more research on technology and find ways to better integrate it into my practice.

3.      Submit a conference proposal. Presented once and hoping to present again!

4.      Connect with more folks from my cohort. Skype dates, e-mail, etc.

Personally:
1.      Read for fun. I love to read, but want to make sure I read for fun.

2.      Train for another half marathon. Running a half marathon was life changing and I look forward to breaking my personal time record.

3.      Get more involved in the Golden community. I find myself getting caught up in work, and truly need to find more ways to get involved in the community.

4.      Go on an adventure. I definitely have the travel bug, but traveling might not be possible right now. I at least need to hike a fourteener!

What about you? What are some of your goals over the next six months?

Also, I’m headed to the AIMHO Conference on Friday. Who else is going? I’m looking forward to connecting with folks!
