One Door Closes and Another Door Opens

A dear friend and co-worker recently moved to London (awesome, right?). Although it may be awesome for her and her husband, it isn’t so fun for those of us who are left behind! Over the weekend we had a going away/pool party for her. There were mixed emotions- it was fun but also very sad. As I mentioned, she was a co-worker and one that I leaned on to ask questions and advice often. I have other great co-workers to bounce ideas off of, however, she was one of the first people I turned to when I started last August. I will forever be grateful for her friendship and hospitality.

Well now with one person leaving, it creates opportunities for growth and change in the office. My position and responsibilities will be changing to incorporate room for professional development. I am very excited and grateful for this new challenge. As I am headed into my second year as a Student Affairs Professional, I am ready and willing to take on new roles and responsibilities. Sometimes change can be scary but it is also really exciting. We will see what is in store for me as the summer progresses.

Are other first year professionals experiencing changes in their jobs as we begin to transition into the second year? Discuss with me via Twitter- @amberphillips83.
