Weekend Adventures – Part 1

This past weekend, I received my first over-night visitor to my new apartment, fellow blogger and comrade from graduate school, Katie Ericson!

We really took Denver by storm. Weekend activities included:
  • Running in the #ColorRun5
  • Taking the Coors Brewery Tour
  • Attending the Colorado Symphony
  • Doing a Willpower & Grace workout class
  • BBQing – twice
  • Hiking South Table Top (my personal favorite Golden hike)
  • Wandering the cute restaurants and shops of Golden
  • and shopping in Denver!
Along the way we met some wonderful other Student Affairs professionals – including other @SAFirstYears blogger, Amma:
And some fantastic individuals from Johnson and Wales in Colorado. We had a tasty lunch following the Color Run!

It was definitely a jam-packed weekend, full of goodness. Here are some fun tidbits:
  • I am fairly certain we heard “So Call Me Maybe” at least 20 times throughout the weekend, and applied it to just as many situations.
  • It’s crazy fun to get colorful. But pretty difficult to clean off. However, I would do the Color Run again in a heartbeat.
  • Going to bed early and getting up early is actually really nice.
  • Ratatouille is a vegetable, not a cheese.
  • One bathroom means: the first showers while the second bakes, and then the second showers, while the first whips up the frosting. Extremely efficient and effective.
  • It’s good to have a plan, but it’s also good to be able to change the plan if new things pop up (e.g.: additional BBQs!)
  • Shopping must always happen!
  • It’s always a bit tiring being a hostess. However, I am sure I probably wore Katie out more than hostessing wore me out– mostly because the elevation is quite high here! She will be sharing her perspective of the trip tomorrow!
It’s always wonderful to set aside some time and re-charge with friends! Thanks for a fun weekend, @katieericson!
