Many Manic Mondays

Busy doesn’t even begin to describe my life the past few weeks! Between the start of not only five new counselors but a new director and preparing for graduate school on top of that, things have been crazy. That doesn’t go without saying I don’t love every minute of it though J

With so many things going on, times can be stressful. I like to give myself a pat on the back for handling it semi-well. Yes, there were many nights I stayed late at work or found myself frantically checking my emails over the weekend. Every person is going to handle change and stress in the workplace differently. Here are some friendly tips that I use so as to not lose my mind:

  1. Don’t forget to breathe. There’s nothing wrong with taking a few minutes of personal time during your day. If it’s just to collect yourself after a difficult encounter with someone or if you maybe just need to chill during a busy day.  
  2. Have a life outside of work. All work and no play will make anyone a dull bean. Go on a walk for your lunch break or hit up a happy hour after you get off work.  
  3. Put down your electronic devices. I synced my work email to my iPhone. Good for when I’m on the road, bad for when I’m on vacation. Take a break. Turn it off.
Hopefully these will help you as much as they’ve helped me over the past bit! So begins another week here at Middle Tennessee filled with class and activity within the office. Cheers to you, fellow SA bloggers and readers. I now leave you with “Manic Monday” – The Bangles.
